CUDDALORE: A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Monday on charges of sexually abusing a four-year-old girl in a village in Cuddalore district of Tamil Nadu. He was produced before the juvenile justice board which sent him to an observation home in Cuddalore town.
Kumaratchi police inspector C Amutha, who is also in charge inspector of Kattumannarkoil police station, said the boy, a Class X dropout, spotted the four-year-old girl playing outside her house on July 17. He lured her to a secluded spot near a playground in the locality and sexually abused her.
The girl managed to tell her mother about the incident and her mother preferred to lodge a complaint with Kattumannarkoil police on Sunday. The police sent the girl to Cuddalore Government General Hospital for medical examinations to ascertain the charges of sexual assault.
The police booked the teen boy under sections 5 (aggravated penetrative sexual assault), 5 (m) (whoever commits penetrative sexual assault on a child below twelve years) and 6 (punishment for aggravated penetrative sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act .
