TRICHY: With the lockdown extended in the state till June 7, the district administration through the respective local bodies have permitted grocery stores to sell essential commodities through vehicles between 7am and 6pm every day.
Since the employees were vaccinated in the last few days on priority during the vaccination camps for 18-44 years in the high-risk category, the employees will be allowed to deliver the groceries at the doorstep.
“Prior permission should be availed with the respective local bodies by mentioning the people involved in door delivery and vehicles used,” an official source said. The civic bodies will confiscate the vehicles if they find vehicles selling grocery items without permission and standard operating procedures. “The corporation must appoint an official for every ward and their contact number should be circulated to avail support if the vehicles are not properly covering the streets,” said K Shyam Sundar, a resident of Thiruverumbur.
