BENGALURU: Karnataka’s Covid-19 trajectory witnessed a major milestone on Monday when the day’s fresh cases dipped below the 1,000 mark for the first time in five months. The state reported 998 new cases on the day. The last time the state had witnessed less than 1,000 cases was on June 30 when 947 positives were reported.
“The Covid numbers started surging in the first week of July. The situation turned alarming when the state started reporting over 10,000 new cases per day. Now the positive cases have come down despite the government increasing the number of tests conducted per day. This is a positive development for the state,” said health minister K Sudhakar.
In its daily bulletin, the health department said 81,333 tests (including 73,000 RT-PCR) were done. The state’s positivity rate on Monday was 1.2%. There were 13 deaths reported on Monday and the case fatality rate was 1.3%.
